What is a Database?

A database is used to store data.

You can think of it like a hub or a virtual location in your system where data is kept in an organized way.

Databases help you save, manage, and find data easily, even if you have a lot of it.

They are great tools for handling big or complex data in a very simple and clear way.

Databases are the Brains Behind the Internet:

Every time you:

  • ✓ Like a post
  • ✓ Search on Google
  • ✓ Order food delivery
  • ✓ Book a flight

...a database is working behind the scenes

We use databases because in our digital world, we need someone who:

  1. Remember everything
  2. Find things instantly
  3. Keep it all organized
  4. Make it useful

But What’s the End Goal?

The end goal of using a database is this:

To fetch (get) the data easily whenever we need it.

Whether it's 10 users or 10 million, the database lets us:

  • Quickly search for what we need
  • Easily update information
  • Delete old or wrong data
  • And organize everything neatly
